Anchor Summer Beer

I like this summer. It's what a summer beer should be: light, refreshing and tasty. Anchor Brewing company has a winner.

Dogfish Head Festina PĂȘche

I'm not sure I would call this beer, even the label calls it a malt beverage. It's like peach iced tea with a beer aftertaste. If that's not for you then you probably won't like it. Myself I won't go out of my way to buy it again, but if it's at a summer party, I may have one if all the Mikes are gone.

Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale (bottle)

I found this in my local store, and like it a lot. I've had trouble finding it again. Looks like another trip to the Reading store soon. Not quite a summer, but light enough to enjoy in the summertime.

Short's Brew Bellaire Brown

A nice brown ale, not quite a beer for summertime, a little heavy. Probably better on a cool October night. A slight citrus taste and a full body will put this on the try again list for the fall. Shortsbrewing.com from Elk Rapids, MI.

Magic Hat's Circus Boy

Magic Hat's Hefeweizen entry. I like this beer, but then again I can't think of a Hefeweizen I didn't like. Good with or without the orange slice.

Wachusett Blueberry Ale

I had this beer on tap at Latitude 43 in Gloucester, nice touch to add blueberries. A good beer, tasty with a hint of blueberries.

Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema

This brew from the Anderson Valley Brewing Company from Boonville CA is like it's name (Crema) says is a nice creamy tasting beer. It's good as a dessert beer or if you like your beer on the sweet side. I'm not sure what to make of the bear with antlers, but I'd definitely get this beer again.

Full Sail Amber

Full Sail is an independent brewery in Oregon. Their amber is really nice despite a slight aftertaste. There were two other Full Sail at the store I might have to try those as well. Full Sail is an employee owned brewery with 47 employees. Check them out at www.fullsailbrewing.com

Smuttynose Summer Weizen

I enjoyed a smuttynose ale at BWW the other day, so when I saw this at my local package store, I thought I'd give it a try.
The bottle says "Ale brewed with chamomile flowers"; the box says offbeat take on German wheat beer with the fruity esters of a Belgian brewers yeast.
I'm not sure what chamomile flowers taste like, nor am I sure I want my beer to taste like it. Fortunately it didn't taste bad at all. Not a bad ale, but I'm not sure what makes it a summer besides the picture of the lady in a swimsuit on the bottle. Smuttynose recommends this beer for "sultry summer weather", maybe it wasn't hot enough this weekend for it too stand out. I'll save a bottle for the next HHH day.
